Near the end of the construction, it quickly became obvious that despite our careful planning there were a few things that where just not included in our original budget/ plan. For us, these items fell into three broad categories 1. low voltage installation 2. closet organizers 3. window coverings. All of these items seem reasonable at the time. For example, alarm systems seem pretty widespread and commonplace so they should be included with our installation. Closets require organizers and windows have to be covered. Unfortunately, for us, none of these items were included in our original budget and so when we talk about going ‘ over budget’ these three items really added to the list. Even buying all the organizers from direct buy and self installing them myself still cost me $3500. The low voltage installation was really expensive although we did go pretty extensive with our installation. A cheaper installation would have been just the alarm system (about $3000) and none of the other stuff.
